Ntsiki Biyela is a trailblazing black South African winemaker at Stellekaya Winery in Stellenbosch, South Africa. She rose through the ranks of a traditionally white, male industry to become recognized as one of the country's leading winemakers, winning the Woman Winemaker of the Year award in 2009. Raised in rural KwaZulu-Natal, Biyela was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Stellenbosch, where she studied viticulture and oenology. Her prominence has inspired young black women to break into this growing industry. |
