A local health worker from Ethiopia, Aster has dedicated her life to ensuring the health of mothers and children in her community. She traverses over seven miles daily on foot, and has saved countless lives along the way.
I became a local health worker because I wanted to serve my community. I wanted to help mothers and children with the health problems they face, which I’ve grown up seeing in my area.

Aster walks 12 kilometers every day to keep mothers and children safe and healthy. Aster spends the first part of her day at the local health post, the only accessible clinic for miles.

If I could have one wish, I wish to see mothers and children safe, healthy and well educated.
